Sadly, Karate has lost another Karateka – Mick Billman 9th Dan

Sadly, Karate has lost another Karateka, who has given much of his life to progressing our art and sport.

Mick Billman 9th Dan sadly passed away last week.

Me and Mick were meeting to have lunch in Hove tomorrow. A reminder that we only have a certain time on this earth and to meet sooner rather than later. Don’t put things off. Sadly, this was not to be.

We first met when he was HOD for England National and Regional teams and then worked together on the Board when he was President of the English Karate Federation and closely when I was HOD for England at the 2016 World Senior Karate Championships.

He put me forward for the WKF World Congress in 2016 and allowed me an insight into this side of World Karate. He definitely was a fixer, politician and technical developer for the European and World Karate Federation. Well respected throughout the European and World Karate Federation.

RIP Mick and condolences to his children and family.
